So. The universe.

Big place. [He smiled, though it almost looked like more of a smirk.] Huge place, really--even I haven't seen all of it. I might never see all of it, I doubt anyone can see all the universe.

Especially not now that I've really thought about it. Ever do that, just sit there and think about things? I do, all the time. Only with less 'sit there' and more 'run around being brilliant'. But that's not the point, this is the point. We're all from different worlds, all different parallel worlds with their own...their own everything, really. It's like someone photocopied the universe and stuck it up all over the place.

But what does that mean? Where do all of them cross, that's what I'm stuck on. What makes Johto special, what makes it the one point where so many endless universes--possibly all of everything that has ever existed or will ever exist--overlaps?

That is something that doesn't make sense. So I'm going to poke it with a stick until it does.

[He went to shut off the video, but his Abra tugged on the fabric of his jacket to stop him. There was a point to this call, remember?]

Ah, right. Nearly forgot, thank you for that, Adric.

Has anyone heard of a planet called 'Alternia'?

[Hawk's not sure whether this guy is completely nuts or incredibly brilliant but either way he likes him. Maybe. It's refreshing, whatever it is.]

Is that the way you usually solve philosophical conundrums? Poke it with sticks?

[The answer would be an even amount of both, leaning towards one or the other depending on the day and if there are any fishsticks with custard around.]

That's exactly how I solve all my problems. Sometimes even with literal sticks.

Y'know, I think that's the best thing I've ever heard.

If only more people solved their problems the same way we might get more done.

Course they would. You humans, so many of you don't know a good solution when it's dropped right in front of your face. Sticks. Sticks are an excellent idea, as are poking things with them.

[Definitely not even raising an eyebrow at the "you humans" bit. Oh no. Hawk's a quick learner.]

Well, you can't really have one without the other. It's like... pork ribs and coleslaw. It's just not the same if you separate them.

Of course not. What fun is a stick if you're not poking anything with it?

It would just be a stick then, wouldn't it?

[Snappy stand-up routine aside... his curiousity is starting to get the better of him. They haven't even invented photocopiers in 1953, let alone done anything great about the universe.]

So... you're some kind of... physicist?
